Hundreds of people around the world participated in this incredible act of unity. Some reconciled with family members or friends they hadn’t spoken to in over 10 years. Others committed to staying calm in situations that could have easily led to conflict—whether it was a neighbor building noisy, dusty additions, or tensions at family gatherings.

And they did it all for one man’s merit.

On May 25, 2022, Yaakov, a vibrant father and a pillar of the community, suffered a life-altering incident. While riding his bike, he collided with a tree, breaking three cervical discs and severely damaging his spinal cord. The diagnosis was grim—paralysis from the neck down. The neurosurgeon said, “Your husband may never walk or use his hands again.”

But Yaakov, with unwavering faith, took comfort in knowing that this was where G-d wanted him to be. Despite the immense physical limitation and emotional pain, he visualized walking his children down the aisle and kept pushing through grueling therapy. Yet, instead of asking for donations or more prayers, Yaakov asked the community for one thing: Peace. He urged them to reconcile with those they were at odds with and to make peace even when it was difficult.

The community responded. People found healing in places they never expected—both within themselves and with those around them. The power of peace rippled across homes, neighborhoods, and hearts, all in Yaakov’s name.

Today, against all odds, Yaakov is walking again. His recovery continues, but every step he takes is a miracle—a testament to faith, the power of peace, and the strength of a community united for a greater cause.
